DINING OUT IN PARIS

After my daughter Nicky had recovered from cancer, she wanted to take part in the Paris marathon. So we went to Paris to support her.

A group of us had dinner at a small but busy restaurant near the Bastille. The others left before Louisa and myself and I paid the bill which we had estimated. The restaurant would not take credit cards – cash only and only Euros.

It turned out that I did not have enough. I offered Euros and a credit card – but Non!

I said that all I could suggest was that I would pay as much as I had the money for and promised to return the next day with the balance. They agreed.

The following day – true to my word – we showed up to pay the balance. They were busy and I explained who I was in my bad French and they said “Oh, we made a mistake. We charged you too much”. And there on a shelf behind the counter was a plate with the change owed to me from what I had already paid.
